I made a real connection between Sapna and Frida Kahlo. Her display of her heart, broken, razed and resurrected was on full display in her art and so reflected in her soul and spirit. Viewing her work you get very much the feeling of knowing her with an almost awkward intimacy we sometime feel should be kept amongst close friends and relatives.
It is rare that an artist has the stones to present him or herself in this way. I believe Sapna is on this journey– Ron Voller -
A bit like looking through the magical lens of a kaleidoscope – each time your eyes shift, or your perspective changes there is new information. Sometimes disconcerting sometimes sheer poetry– Deepa Mehta

“Sindhustan” is an honest depiction of the emotional state of the mind of a storyteller and is handled brilliantly by Sapna Bhavnani, who is a Sindhi herself. She recreates the existence of Sindh through her body tattoos that has a poetic effect on the narrative which defines a stateless society and possesses a universal appeal. Amazing film and a must watch.– Sankha Ray for Asian Movie Pulse

Sindhustan was the top of my must-watch list for MAMI Film Festival. I went into Sindhustan prepared with a lot of research about Sindh and Sindhis, and within the first few minutes, as the narrative unfolded interspersed with poetry by Shah Abdul Latif, all my research was just a bunch of bland facts in contrast to the deeply emotional storytelling of Sindhustan. Sindh walks on Sapna’s tattooed legs and feet onto each frame of this movie- she is the land, and the land is her– Ishmeet Nagpal for Sabrang
